So you eventually finish the final interview and hope for the best. During the interview, the recruiter said that she or he would let you know about the interview result soon. There was no expected or exact date mentioned in the interview. It has been over a week you have not heard from the recruiter or the interviewer regarding your interview result, now you’re wondering how to ask about it. As a candidate, you should always do a follow up after the interview. It is recommended to follow up five business days after the interview. But when there is an expected or exact date and you did not hear on that day, you should follow up one day after the expected date.
Dear (recruiter’s name),
Thank you so much for your time to speak with me and talk about the (job position) at (company). I really enjoyed learning about the company and it was my pleasure to meet you.
I’m very excited about the opportunity to join (company) and I believe that my (mention your skills) will bring a great benefit to the (company) and help the (company) to achieve the goals. Would you provide me with an update regarding my interview please? If there is any question you need to ask, feel free to contact me by replying to this email.
I look forward to hopefully working together with you.
A follow-up after an interview is important. It shows that you are interested in the job and also can minimize the risk from being forgotten since many candidates had an interview. Send a follow-up email one week after your interview date but you should send a thank you email a few hours after your interview.
