As a full-time University student, I understand the pressure of juggling between studies and a full-time job. Especially during the examination period, the stress level can get extremely high and tiring.
The better option is to work part-time and get paid on an hourly basis. Part-time Jobs have a flexible work schedule where students can choose their working time slots/shifts for the week.
We have compiled some great jobs for Secondary, Polytechnics, Institution of Technical Education (ITE), and University Students.
Without further ado, let’s find out the top 5 part-time jobs for students!
Here is the breakdown of the salary and working hour:
Almost 80% of Singaporeans work in an office. It is always better to start early to gain some working experience as an office worker.
Admin duties can range from simple data entry to sorting important emails. It is easy once you get the hang of it. Be prepared that the job is not the most exciting work. But it is still good for your future work life because you can meet lots of meaningful work connections.
It is still advised that job seekers read the job description of the recruitment advertisement carefully because some admin jobs may encapsulate accounting duties that can be rather challenging for secondary school students.
Here is a breakdown of the salary and working hour:
Customer Service Specialist is one of the jobs with the most flexible work hours. All that is required of you is to ensure all customer’s enquiries are answered professionally.
Another perk is the recent work from home (WFM) arrangement for most customer service jobs. For those who hate to commute on a daily basis, the customer service specialist position is one that you should consider.
The customer service job can develop the communication skills of a student. The customer service specialist will be trained to answer questions in a tactful manner. Many customer service operators can transit into more important roles like business development executives and sales managers.
Do try out the customer service jobs if you are keen to develop your communication skills.
Here is a breakdown of the salary and working hour:
The F&B service crew job is definitely ideal for students who like an interesting work life. There are usually many young part-timers like yourself and the work can get rather busy during peak hours.
Some restaurants/hotels may even provide free food and transport for their employees. Students can save a lot by working as an F&B service crew.
Do take note that the hourly pay is different between morning, afternoon, evening, and night shifts. The afternoon and night shifts normally pay the most as customer flow will peak during lunch and dinner timings.
All F&B employers will need to send their workers to the NEA approved food safety course. The Food Safety Certificate will come in handy if you want to start a cafe or restaurant in the future.
Here is a breakdown of the salary and working hour:
The financial advisor (FA) jobs are meant for poly and university students who are interested in earning huge profits. The earning potential of a FA is unlimited, meaning it is totally possible for them to earn 6 figure a month by the age of 20. If you are a hustler who is extremely motivated, try the Financial advisor position to maximise your earning potential.
The job is around the clock, meaning you are always following your client’s schedule. There are some customers who can only meet you after work. Or worse, some clients may only be free during the weekends. Please understand that working “overtime” is the norm in the Financial Advisory industry.
At the end of the day, you reap what you sow.
The Covid-19 pandemic has created a few jobs like safe distance ambassador and temperature scanner. The salary is extremely volatile for now due to the rapidly changing demand. During the initial stage of the COVID-19 outbreak, the pay went up to $5000 a month for temperature scanners located in hospitals. For now, the pay has stabilised at $11 - $12 and it is rather safe for the temperature screener as well.
