Project Manager

$15000 to $17000 (Monthly)

Primary Function

• Lead capital projects in the Asia Region and achieve cost, scope, and schedule targets by

leveraging regional strengths & resources to meet the business goals across Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain.

• The Project Manager draws on his/her multi disciplinary experience – engineering, process

design, automation, operations, and construction management etc. to achieve these goals.

Most capital projects are between USD 1.0 Million to USD 50 Million and multiple projects

are managed at a given point in time, requiring various implementation timeline and sites


• The Project Manager must develop and manage capital and expense cash flow budgets as

well as manage project teams in a Matrix structure, to achieve project results.

• This person also directs internal and external resources to accomplish the project goals to

the satisfaction of the client and the business expectations.


• Determine the client’s functional requirements and prepare the project scope in terms of

performance, quality, reliability, and maintainability in agreement with the client and other

functions — MIS, Quality Assurance, Product Development, Marketing and Operations.

• Develop project execution strategy, identify activities, prepare schedules, evaluate risks,

prepare risk mitigation plans, and determine the resources necessary for successful


• Manage project team’s efforts to develop the project proposal, design criteria; scope

definition, cost estimates, and execution schedules that are required for RCE preparation.

• Lead project teams to ensure full compliance with internal and external standards —

Company standards, national and regional standards, including Safety and EHS standards.

• Communicate the status of each project to senior management and other internal and

external parties, routinely.

• Provide expert engineering, processing, and project management guidance and oversight

to new manufacturing projects initiated in Asia region.

• Facilitate regional perspective to manufacturing process design in agreement with local /

national standards and manufacturing capabilities.

• Provide process engineering and project management support to regional manufacturing

operations and act as primary liaison with the E&IT Global Engineering Groups to identify

and provide project management support.

Understand and assess the regional impact of specific technologies and engineering


• Provide critical engineering support and guidance during plant/process start-up and


• Provide expert engineering guidance and support to manufacturing operations across

Asian Nutritional Sites to help resolve issues both during project execution and

routine manufacture.

• Facilitate project technical support during Bidding, Negotiation, and Construction phases of

the projects. Be responsible for interpretation of design intent of bidding and contract

document packages.

• Work with sites to develop Long Range Capital Plan and Site Master Plans that

are in alignment with the larger goals of the division and corporation.

• Lead and/or provide guidance to sites in the Front End Planning activities, including

development of the project scope, design and cost estimates, schedule development, and

project execution plans on process improvement projects

• Maintain clear communication lines with all sites to ensure consistent deployment of best in

class practices and equipment

• Plan and schedule work in accordance with plant demands and available


• Lead proposed manufacturing scenarios for new product introductions early to determine

manufacturability, capital cost, and schedule issues. Identify capital requirements to

manufacture these products when required

• Interface with Asia regional R&D center to align on upcoming and future product trends that

could impact manufacturing

• Assess contract manufacturing facilities for their ability to manufacture products and

provide recommendations for process upgrades if required


• Bachelors Degree in Engineering

• Masters Degree in Business Administration, Desirable but not required.

• Other: Basic psychology, accounting and writing courses would be helpful and registration

as a professional engineer is desirable, but not required.

• Engineering degree is essential to managing engineering projects in the Company due

to large number of technical decisions that must be made. Often these decisions are

very critical to product quality to the customer, Safety and security of the Company’s

Employees and contractors working on the project, and bottom line impact to business

goals and bottom-line.

• MBA or equivalent business experience would provide the incumbent with the

background needed to manage budgets, cash flows, and aid with personnel


• Professional engineering registration could be an asset when dealing with consultants

and contractors who often have professional engineers on their staff.

• Substantial large capital project experience along with Project Management certification

provides the necessary background to be successful in this role

• Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and


• At least 10 years Project Engineering, Engineering related work or applicable business

experience is required

• At least 8 years Project structured work experience such as a project engineer, consultant, project team member, etc.

• In addition to the above the incumbent must have acquired a broad range of engineering

and management skills, specifically in the Nutritional or FMCG industry, with good

understanding of manufacturing operations.

• The Project Manager must have a working knowledge of engineering functions, cost control

system and scheduling techniques and be able to deal with contractors and A&E firms.

• The Project Manager must have a working knowledge of the technical aspects of unit

operations -- Liquid Processing, Spray Drying, Nutritional Product Manufacturing systems

and industry and corporate standards and procedures.

• Good human relations and outstanding presentation skills are essential to successfully

interface with Executive Management at the Company, to manage team members in a

Matrix environment and to successfully deal with external suppliers.

Design Assurance, Snr Project Leader

$9500 to $11000 (Monthly)

The primary objectives of the Sr Project Leader, Design Assurance, are to assure product designs provide necessary safety, efficacy, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction while balancing the need for speed to market as well as cost effectiveness.

The candidate works with their functional group peers and managers to define Design Assurance related deliverables to ensure successful scale up to commercial scale manufacturing (successful FLTS process). Together with R&D, Technical Centers and Plant operations, the incumbent assesses critical-to-quality attributes and ensures the manufacturability of new formulations and products. Anticipates conflict in project attributes and operations capability and drives resolution.

Major Responsibilities:

§ Assures that the design and testing for all Abbott Nutritional products are fully compliant with applicable regulations.

§ Facilitates product technical risk management activities through product development stages.

§ Reviews, and prepares when appropriate, manufacturing and quality documents related to product manufacture to assure that appropriate design review criteria and nutritional requirements and guidelines are adhered to and complied with.

§ Reviews and approves, as needed, technical reports and documents written by R&D and Technical Centres pertaining to product quality and shelf-life.

§ Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situation or data requires review of defined factors.

§ Monitors product, process and package quality performance and identifies quality related issues and trends.

§ Provide technical reviews and guidance on issues related to product quality and nutrient performance to R&D, Technical Centres and Plant QA.

§ Works with and provides direction to functional peers and operations to develop and implement corrective actions for product function-related issues.

§ Identify/gain agreement on design criteria, negotiate compromises and balance quality with other criteria across all functional areas.

§ Participates in NPI and/or FLTS project teams, as required, to collaborate and provide leadership and guidance from a technical and quality standpoint.

§ Displays a high level of understanding in general food nutrition and knowledge of food ingredients and nutrient function.

§ Exhibits technical competence in data analysis and product related calculations.

§ Identify/gain agreement on design criteria, negotiate compromises, balance quality with other criteria across all functional areas.

B. S. in Science Related field (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or other technical science area); Masters degree a plus

  • The incumbent must have the ability to work and interact with many cultures in many time zones, and be capable of interpreting and analyzing technical data from different regions for decision making.

  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and analytical thinking.

  • Minimum 7 years working experience in the food/nutritional industry and experience in the scale- up and commercialization of product innovations.

  • Knowledge of HACCP principles

Accountability / Scope/Budget:

This position reports to the Manager, Global Design Assurance. Ensures that all Abbott Nutrition products meet the highest standards for quality required by regulations and is responsible for determining trends in the supply chain and adapting or transforming quality processes to achieve breakthrough improvements. Interruption in the distribution of products can result if these efforts are not well planned and coordinated across the business.

E&I Engineer

$4500 to $6500 (Monthly)

Primary Function:

  • Responsible for managing, maintaining and installation of electrical equipment, instrumentation, controls, components and systems which are used to monitor and control plant engineering systems, machinery and processes.

  • Oversee the operation of measuring instruments that are used.

  • Strategize on maintenance, work instruction and methods to create effective preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Support in the planning of routine maintenance of production equipment.

  • Analyze breakdowns, diagnose faults and lead time critical equipment repairs. Implement preventive measures to improve machine reliability.

  • Work with reliability engineers to improve equipment performance and extend equipment useful life cycle.

  • Oversee and control maintenance costs.

  • Train and mentor technicians in equipment operating concepts and maintenance techniques.

  • Supervising and inspecting the installation, modification, testing and operation of electrical and electronic systems and equipment

  • Function as project development member to install or upgrade equipment. Schedule and obtain project material and manpower.

  • Support Plant EHS and quality initiatives and targets.

  • Support the Automation activities include line sustaining operations and trouble shooting.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing the standard operating procedures for instrument calibration and implementing of maintenance programs for operational efficiencies and minimize cost.

  • Evaluate root case analysis reports of major equipment and system failure and develop potential solutions.

  • Review installations and assembly documentations periodically to ensure compliance with organizational procedures.

  • Approve recommended repair works for major equipment and system failures.

  • Establish technical guidelines for the calibrations and alignment of robot motors, sensors and encoders.

  • Optimize the motion, functions and routes of robots and other equipment and system components.

  • Manage vendor service contracts.

  • Preparing operation and maintenance budget.

  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/ Control & Instrumentation Engineering

  • Min 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing facility

  • Good planning and supervisory, strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge on Programmable logic controllers (PLC), Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).

(Senior) Process Engineer

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the overall projects related to Manufacturing Equipment/ design while ensuring the highest levels of quality

Technician (U&F)

$2800 to $4500 (Monthly)

  • Responsible for the interface between teams at AMS headquarters, the local contractors and team members responsible for maintenance and operation of the facility (including electrical systems, mechanical systems, janitorial services, and all other aspects of the business’ operations).

  • Ensure the ongoing flawless operations of the specific areas of the business, will ensure that facilities problems are identified and repaired quickly, will ensure that contractors are delivering quality services, and will make sure that all internal customer demands are being met.

  • This individual will work to find creative ways to keep operational costs to a minimum and will work outside of the box with team members to improve efficiency and implement new data center strategies.

  • Compliance with local regulatory laws is also required.

  • Responsible for building and equipment maintenance programs including plumbing, electrical, hvac, building automation systems, fire/ life safety systems, and data center infrastructure.

  • Performs, evaluates and directs design and construction disciplines including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and controls.

  • Manages energy conservation programs and tracks utility usage/ costs.

  • Coordinates hazardous/ regulated waste disposal, pollution prevention, and waste minimization programs. Investigates or ensures adequate investigation of all incidents and facilitates corrective action to prevent future occurrence.

  • Manages various facility projects including budget and schedule.

  • Participates in vendor bid solicitation, selection and contract management.

  • Responsible for equipment and instrumentation calibration and operate, monitor and maintenance (corrective, preventive, predictive) of plant utilities & facilities equipment.

  • Perform either 12-hours day shift or Non-shift works.

  • Support Night shift operation if needed.

  • Support the Fire protection and monitoring systems in comply with the Site Safety and GMP procedures in 12-hrs rotating shift.

  • Responsible for support the equipment qualification such as walkdown, punch list commissioning, IQ/ OQ/ PQ for any new project.

  • Responsible for supporting the writing of Job Aids and support Engineer in SOP writing, CCA or ER investigation.

  • Responsible for execution of work order and record job performed via MAXIMO system.

  • Manage and lead contractor, vendors and service providers to perform maintenance works.

  • Take part in continuous improvement efforts/ projects.

  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical/ Food/ Petrochemical/ Chemical Plant or Automation industry or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • MOM certified Boiler/ Steam Attendant Certification or LEW Technician/ Electrician Grade.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good team player and able to multi-tasks.

  • ITC/ NITEC/ Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Chemical/ Automation or related discipline or GCE "N/ O/ A" Level with more than 3 years of experience.

Engineer (Automation)

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to ensure all Automation System and Servers are compliance to IT requirement.

  • Responsible to provide support on the Automation System. To attend and carry out fault finding, diagnosis and recovery of systems from breakdowns.

  • To perform routine preventive maintenance as per scheduled by maintenance planner.

  • Responsible to update and create Job Aids as and when is needed.

  • Responsible to carry instrument calibration and troubleshooting.

  • Responsible to perform backup and restore machine program.

Skills and experience required: -

  • Ability to perform troubleshooting and work on difference types of PLC programming language (Siemens Step 7, Rockwell RS Logix, B&R automation).

  • Good knowledge on field instrumentations (temperature & pressure transmitter, control valve)

  • Able to perform simple instrument calibration and troubleshooting.

  • Read and Interpret maintenance procedures, equipment manuals, work orders, process and instrumentation (P&ID) diagram and electrical schematics to perform required maintenance, servicing and troubleshooting

  • Familiar with PLC control component, ability to carry out hardware replacement and minor software modification.

  • Good knowledge on field bus system (Profibus DP/PA, deviceNet, IO Link, CANopen)

  • Ability to work with limited supervision
