APAC Controlling & Mercury Finance Lead

The opportunity




Reporting to APAC CFO, the APAC Controlling & Mercury Finance Lead has broad responsibility for Finance Matters within APAC. This includes being a hands-on subject matter support resource to region and country Finance teams on Controlling aspects of financial processes and system. This role requires knowledge of broad range of finance and operational subjects across the Area as well as excellent communication, decision making and advisory skills.




Your key responsibilities



  • Monitor the monthly and annual closing process to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial results.

  • Monitor deliverables from Infosys on financial transaction processing and support. Working closely with GPO and VMO on transformation opportunities; continuously strive to automate processes with an aim to provide more accurate data in a timely manner.

  • Understand the accounting policies underlying management results and budgeting principles. Advise member firms on new policy update and their impact on accounting treatment.

  • Lead and supervise the Area statutory and controlling team on operations which includes statutory consolidation of multiple Area holding entities, oversight of working capital requirements, finance operational support for Area owned business.

  • Collaborate as a member of Area Mercury Leadership team in overseeing the Mercury deployment in Asia Pacific with a focus in the S2P and R2R space. Advise and review deployment countries’ configuration.

  • Provide guidance on system and process for financial and operational planning, forecasting.

  • Team with Internal Tax and GCO to provide business with solutions on complex organization and operation issues as well as compliance with country jurisdictions.

  • Handle ad-hoc assignments and assist in special projects.

  • Respond to stakeholders on ad-hoc requests on finance and operation related matters.

To qualify for the role you must have



  • Graduate and/or professional certification in a business related subject matter (i.e. Accounting, Finance) is required to perform this position.

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in large corporate multinational organization. EY experience is preferred.

  • You have a positive and pro-active attitude with a solution-oriented and strong delivery focus

  • Open but must be flexible to lead or participate in calls across all time zones, most specifically US Eastern and European time zones.

  • Identify and develop a pipeline of potential clients in the alternative funds (i.e. private funds, venture capital, hedge, debt, and real estate funds, both the new fund setup and established funds in Singapore and ASEAN region for EY’s Assurance, Tax and Legal service lines.

The opportunity




This role has end to end responsibility for strategic planning and executing on BMC programs for EY’s financial services team in ASEAN market. She/ he is the key BMC contact person for the Banking & Capital Markets sector.




Your key responsibilities




- Strategic BMC (brand, marketing and communications) planning that aligns to EY’s global and regional BMC objectives and to the business strategy of Financial Services.




- Be an influential senior manager that can advise the Financial Services leadership team in ASEAN on brand, marketing and communications strategy, and can turn that strategy into execution.




- Build an external presence and brand with financial services industry bodies and influence strategic sponsorship opportunities that are well activated and leveraged in the business.




- Develop programs that integrate a mix of marketing and communication channels including client and media event, thought leadership, media (earned and paid), industry sponsorships, direct marketing, social and digital channels.




- Work collaboratively with BD, operations and finance on the framing and scoping of marketing programs that support go-to-market campaigns, supporting campaign leaders and teams in planning, execution, and measurement.




- Drive local content development which align with ASEAN FSO business priorities.




- Be the key BMC contact point for Banking & Capital Markets (BCM) sector. Lead the regional marketing effort around the BCM sector.




- Support the Financial Services ASEAN partners with:




o Strategic marketing programs that drive deep sector focus, align programs around priority go to market themes, strengthen the brand and build strong relationships with c-suite of large banks, wealth and asset managers, and insurance companies.




o Internal communication and promotion of sales and marketing initiatives that demonstrate our success in the market.




- Oversee all external communications that drive marketing programs, such as thought leadership material, advertising copy, drafting of client invitations, webpages, digital client magazines, and presentation materials.




- Identify, negotiate and project manage strategic sponsorships or alliances that enable EY financial services to position our brand as number 1 in the market. These sponsorships should neatly align to our purpose of building a better working world.




- Be a responsible team leader by helping the team to prioritise a busy workload and provide on the job career counselling and advice.




- Establish a strong connection with the Asia-Pacific FSO BMC team and align on business/ go-to-market strategy. Share best practice with other FSO BMC Leaders in Greater China, Oceania and Japan.




- Effectively team with the broader BMC ecosystem, including ASEAN BMC team to drive both the strategic and executional needs for Financial Services on ground.

- Work with local PR and media teams and APAC FSO peers to drive a strong pipeline of content for proactive media opportunities for our thought leadership partners in ASEAN Financial Services.




- Ensure written communication materials follow internal compliance procedures before being promoted externally.




- Manage marketing programs according to the budget allocated and deliver initiatives on time.




- Ensure penetration and measurement of marketing programs with priority accounts through effective use of CRM. Lead marketing automation on ground.




- Support the regional FSO BMC team in forming and activating effective working relationships with key related functions in the business necessary for high- impact campaigns, ie, Business Development,


Knowledge, Operations and related entities.




- Where appropriate identify resourcing issues during busy periods and elevate these issues to the Financial Services Asia Pacific BMC Director for support and assistance.




- Uphold professional standards at all times, act as a trusted advisor to our Financial Services partners, and protect the overall reputation of BMC.

You will be responsible for working closely with key internal stakeholders to address resource needs for our Assurance Practice. Working as part of a broader Assurance team, you will be responsible for applying consistent resource planning across a range of engagements and will work closely with the business to ensure all staffing needs are met.




Primary areas of responsibility include the allocation of staff resources, resolving booking conflicts, and monitoring availability and staffing requirements through the firm’s Resource Management System (Retain).


You will also contribute to the broader Singapore Assurance resource team, working with other Resource Coordinators to share information, ideas and workloads, and to apply best practice resource planning across the business.

· Monitor and process staff scheduling requests made by engagement personnel
