Objective

  • To provide counselling services to primary school pupils in support of Counselling
  • Pupils who have undergone counselling should be able to overcome their concerns to some extent and be equipped with some coping skills to resolve future issues, if any.

Duration of Service Firm Period:

  • From August 2020 to November 2020 Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:
    • 4 hours (block) per session (excluding breaks)
    • 3 Days per week: 0800 am to 12 noon, 0830 am to 1230 pm or 0900 am to 1 pm.
    • Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.

Scope of Services Counselling Work:

  1. Provide individual counselling to students being referred
  2. Conduct face-to-face counselling
  3. Consult with teachers, Head of Department (HOD) regarding students being counselled
  4. Work with families of students being counselled
  5. Conduct home visits (with school personnel) where necessary
  6. Refer students and their families to community resources for specialised assistance where necessary
  7. Provide regular feedback to the school administration and teachers concerned on the work done with the students counselled
  8. Provide consultation to teachers/parents on non-referral cases and other counselling-related matters
  9. Conduct relevant class talks/ group work/ workshops/ activities for students with special emotional needs (e.g. grief and loss; single family; relationship issues, managing emotions, stress management etc.)
  10. Provide group-counselling to students being referred
  11. Online counselling (only if feasible)
  12. To work in the school 3 days a week for 4 hours per day
  13. Keep records of counselling sessions and email it to AED (Counselling) by beginning of the following month.
  14. Update counselling summary report and email report to HOD (Student Management) and AED (Counselling) by beginning of the following month

Qualification, Skill & Experience of the Personnel

  • A degree relevant in the field of work from a recognized university
  • Trained in social work
  • Experience in counselling work and working with children
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in counselling
  • Should provide a list of current and past training conducted for similar programmes.
  • Must have good track record.

(a) Responsible for cleanliness of classrooms, special rooms and common rooms.

(b) Maintain security and vigilance of the school premises by being alert to identify strangers and visitors to the school.

(c) Direct and accompany visitors or contractors to the General Office.

(d) Assist the school Operations Manager (OM) in basic facilities management and maintenance, such as conducting regular checks on facilities and reporting faults to the OM and escorting of 2-2 contractors for maintenance and servicing works.

(e) Ensure that all fire-fighting equipment are in correct locations.

(f) Responsible for monitoring and replenishing consumables in the toilets (eg jumbo toilet roll, handsoap) and designated locations (eg hand sanitiser lotion) and to inform OM when stock runs low.

(g) Provide logistical and operational support for special school events, examinations, student-related activities and school daily activities, ensuring the venue/room is properly set up in advance, and cleaning up after the event/activity.

(h) Responsible for the security of classrooms, offices and common rooms in the school by locking and unlocking doors and windows.

(i) Provides support to help ensure students’ well-being, such as performing gate and traffic warden duties during emergency exercise or fire drill.

(j) Responsible for utilities meter reading.

(k) To assist in the school recycling programme.

(l) Perform any other duties as and when assigned by school Operations Manager and School Leaders.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum six years of education at primary school level and two years of education at secondary school level
  • Able to understand and speak in simple English
  • Able to understand and speak in simple Mandarin
  • Physically fit and healthy
  • Relevant experience in cleaning operations
