Job Summary: While most industries slowed down in response to the global pandemic in 2020, the field of spatial omics only accelerated. This is an exciting time in this field and we’re looking for an engineering technical manager to lead the product development team. In this challenging and rewarding career opportunity, you will be responsible for leading the team in instrument development, instrument improvement (CIP work), and managing the overall instrument NPI process.

Who you are: You are detailed and process oriented and demonstrate an extensive knowledge and leadership experience in leading product development teams for imaging and/or fluidics hardware work. You have strong project management experience working with various internal teams on the NPI process as well as driving the manufacturing of biotech instruments with external contract manufacturing firms.

The value you bring + the value you deliver: Your work will be critical in bringing advanced high-content imaging and image analysis from semiconductor optical inspection to high-plex, subcellular resolution spatial omics. You will bring extensive product development knowledge and leadership and in-depth experience working with various contract manufacturing firms for our company to deliver the highest quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a product development team to ensure development activities are complete on time.

  • Lead and manage continuous product improvement projects (CIP) for the instruments.

  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities with representatives from various groups.

  • Lead and coordinate with contractor manufacturers during instrument development, pilot manufacturing, and ramp-up of manufacturing.

  • Work with R&D engineers to introduce improvements to the product line.

  • Identify risks to project success, develop effective action plans for resolution, and appropriately manage / escalate project issues or risks.

The position is based in the Singapore and will report to the Engineering Director.

Education and Experience:

BS or Masters in Engineering with at least 10 years’ experience in a project/product development role with experiences developing electrical and mechanical systems for the life science sector. Working with optical instrumentation is a strong plus.

Key Competencies:

  • Engineering – commanding knowledge and experience with system engineering (electrical and mechanical).

  • Knowledge in optics is a plus.

  • Experience with Systems Integration and product Verification and Validation highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with life science instrumentation design and microfluidics manipulation a plus.

  • Experience with quality regulations and standards (e.g. ISO 13485) is a plus.

  • Ability to coordinate work within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Well-developed documentation and technical report writing skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Fluent in English.
